Priyanka Chopra takes break for brother's graduation

Now this is called sisterly love! Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been busy shooting for filmmaker Kunal Kohli's next, has taken two days off to attend her younger brother Siddharth's graduation in Switzerland.
The 28-year-old, who flew to Switzerland Wednesday night, didn't want to miss out on her brother's special day at any cost, and had planned the break well in advance, says a source close to the actress.

"This was very important for her. Her parents have also gone," said the source.

Siddharth, who is seven years younger to Priyanka, was studying a culinary course in a university near Geneva. The actress will return to Mumbai Friday morning - in time to attend NDTV's Greenathon in the night.

She will also resume shooting for Kohli's film, which is yet to get a title. The movie also features Shahid Kapoor.

Priyanka Chopra Vs Rahul Bose on World Environment Day

Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra and Rahul Bose are to compete on the World Environment Day June 5 to motivate people to do their bit to save the mother earth.
The Bollywood stars are facing off in a new video for the ultimate Environment Day Challenge - where they are calling individuals, groups, families and schools, even entire communities - to post details of their green activities online at www.wedchallenge.org/india.

"And for Priyanka and Rahul, this is where the battle lines get drawn. When registering a green activity on the site, people will have the opportunity to pledge their activity to either one celebrity or the other," said a statement issued by UN here.

Priyanka has pledged to plant a tree for every green activity registered in her name while Rahul has pledged to plant two.

"Whether it's switching from plastic bags to cloth bags, car-pooling with colleagues or organising a tree-planting day, green activities can be big, small, local, international, noisy, quiet … just as long as they're green," it said.

India for the first time is the global host of United Nations Environment Day this year.

UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) has given the theme "Forests: Nature at Your Service" in alignment with the UN International Year of Forests, 2011. The theme celebrates the multitude of services - providing clean air, housing rich biodiversity, supplying water - performed by the world's forests.

In the run-up to June 5, the environment ministry has also planned a group of activities, including "Green Walkathon", in partnership with the Delhi government at India Gate.

The other significant feature will be organisation of "Green Haat", involving about 52 partners to showcase initiatives, of forest dwellers, minor forest produce federations of various states, women self-help groups, NGO partners, highlighting the value added forest products at Dilli Haat between June 1-5.

Biodiversity film festival for disadvantaged children, general public, prisoners, and Air Force officials will be organised in partnership with Centre for Media Studies (CMS) in the capital from June 1-4 at National Science Centre, PVR's Cinemas, Tihar Jail and Subroto Park to raise awareness about environmental issues through films from eminent national and international filmmakers.

Priyanka's old world charm in Kunal Kohli's next

It seems actress Priyanka Chopra is set to create the old world charm with her looks in Kunal Kohli's yet-untitled next.

A picture of the actress on the sets of the film in Mumbai shows her in a pink fish cut lehenga, a short blouse and Mumtaz-style draped dupatta. She also sports the classic bouffant hairdo, complete with white flowers to add grace, something seen in the movies of 1970s.

If the grapevine is to be believed, Priyanka and Shahid Kapur are expected to play four sets of characters each in the romantic film, the story of which spans four cities.

It seems Priyanka is trying to master the art of playing multiple roles, and carrying different looks in a single film. First she played 12 different roles in "What's Your Rashee?" and then she was seen in seven looks in Vishal Bharadwaj's "7 Khoon Maaf".

Currently, she is busy shooting for Kohli's film with Shahid at the Mehboob Studios and other locations in Mumbai.

Deol trio, Priyanka Chopra to dazzle at IIFA Toronto

Bollywood's famous Deols - veteran actor Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby - are set to enthrall fans in Toronto with their signature dance steps at the 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held next month. Actress Priyanka Chopra will add glamour to the event too.
Dad is celebrating his 50 years in the industry. It's a great moment for all of us. So we are going to be all together and looking forward to it," actor Bobby Deol told reporters at a press conference here Thursday night.

Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby, who were recently seen together in comedy film "Yamla Pagla Deewana" will perform to peppy songs from the movie, as well as on some of Dharmendra's classic numbers.

"We will of course perform on 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' songs. We would also choose some songs from dad's films on which we can perform," said Bobby.

Even at 75, the evergreen Dharmendra is quite excited to take to the stage to celebrate five decades of his contribution to the film industry.

"I am loving it. Wherever we go we are going to enjoy because we all love you and you all love us. That's the beauty," said Dharmendra.

The three-day IIFA weekend is to be held June 23-25.

According to Bobby, IIFA is different from other awards because it takes Bollywood beyond Indian shores and popularises its song and dance culture in different countries every year.

"IIFA is different because it reaches to different parts of the world. India becomes the talk of the town in those countries. They get to know more about Indian culture and it's a great way of spreading across to the world, what Indians are all about," he said.

Actress Priyanka Chopra said she has not yet decided the numbers she would be performing to at the IIFA event, but she hopes to do something unique.

"This is too early to decide what to perform in IIFA as it still has a month to go. I have performed in almost every award functions this year so would like to do something different in IIFA," said Priyanka.

Though she will not be performing with the Deols, the 28-year-old said she was looking forward to being with them as she shares a special bonding with the family.

"I am very excited. My relationship with the Deol family is very special because the hero of my first film 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy' was Sunny Deol," she added.

Actress Priyanka Chopra praises "Ishqiya" and congratulates filmmaker-composer-singer Vishal Bhardwaj and her wife Rekha for winning national awards for the movie.
The rural drama was the directorial debut of Abhishek Chaubey and Bhardwaj produced it and even composed music for the movie that saw Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan in the lead roles.

At the 58th National Awards, announced in the capital Thursday, Rekha was named the best female playback singer for the song "Badi dheere" from "Ishqiya" and Bhardwaj won the best music director award for the same.

"I am very proud of Vishalji and Rekha ma'am. 'Ishqiya' was a brilliant film. So congratulations to them," said Priyanka.

It's Rekha's first national award, while for Bhardwaj it's the fourth time.

Priyanka worked with Bhardwaj in "Kaminey" and "7 Khoon Maaf".

"I have worked with them in two films and I had a good fortune of working with them. Vishal sir is very talented as a music director and as a director and as a singer," said Priyanka.
